Our Members

     The Centre for Marine CNG is a not for profit independent research and development corporation incorporated under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act. We are a member-based organization for which annual membership dues, ranging from (US)$4,500 to (US)$22,500, are paid in exchange for a schedule of benefits including priority access to research facilities and results and complimentary attendance at our annual Forum. We are pleased to have earned the commitment of an international membership list, representing some of the leading entities in their respective fields.

Compressed Energy Technology (CETech) is developing a new concept for transporting compressed natural gas. The concept is being developed and commercialized jointly by Statoil, Canadian-owned Teekay Shipping and Norways’s Leif Höegh & Co. allowing natural gas to be shipped from an offshore field to terminals, this solution has been pursued together with Det Norske Veritas in a preliminary project since 2002.

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is a
not-for-profit corporation that has World Headquarters in Houston, Texas, USA. The main commitment of ABS is the setting of safety standards for the marine industry. These standards are achieved through the establishment and application of technical standards (rules), for the design construction and operational maintenance of ships and other marine structures.

EnerSea Transport LLC is based in Houston, Texas, USA and provides a
cost-effective compressed natural gas marine transport and storage
system - VOTRANS (Volume Optimized Transport and Storage). EnerSea combines innovative technology and the experience of their team to deliver superior natural gas transportation and storage services.

Det Norske Veritas (DNV) is an independent foundation with the objective of safeguarding life, property, and the environment. Their history goes back to 1864, when the foundation was established in Norway to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of Norwegian merchant vessels.

Varun Shipping Company Limited is a private sector shipping company in India. With its diversified fleet of 20 vessels, in the LPG, crude oil, petroleum products and chemical sectors, it provides a comprehensive shipping solution across the entire hydrocarbon product chain to its valued customers. It also provides its services in the offshore sector. The company has a diversified and well established base of customers, including Indian Public Sector Undertakings and international charters.

Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline (M&NP) is a 1,400 kilometer transmission pipeline system built in 1999 to transport natural gas from developments offshore Nova Scotia to markets in Atlantic Canada and the northeast United States. A joint venture of Spectra Energy, Emera Inc. and ExxonMobil Canada, M&NP is headquartered
in Halifax, Nova Scotia. M&NP system capacity is approximately 530 million cubic feet per day.

Advanced Production and Loading (APL) is a market leader in the development, fabrication and sale of advanced systems for offshore production, specializing in storage and transport of oil and gas by ships. They also cover a substantial range of offshore products. APL was founded in 1993 to Develop and Commercialize the Submerged Turret Loading (STL) and the Submerged Turret Production (STP) systems.

ACOA is the federal government department responsible for helping to build economic potential in the Atlantic Provinces by working with the people of the regions to create jobs and enhance earned incomes. Their goal is to improve the economy of Atlantic Canadian communities through the successful development of business and job opportunities. They also work with their partners to help entrepreneurs in the region to access the capital they need to start-up or expand a business.

Memorial is the largest university in Atlantic Canada, offering more than 100 degree programs to a student population of 17,000. TransCanada is one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services with approximately 360 billion cubic feet of storage capacity. ExxonMobil is a large contributor to the oil and gas industry. They explore for oil and natural gas in six of the seven continents. The company has a significant presence in major offshore projects in Easter Canada. ExxonMobil has interest in producing oil reservoirs such has
Hibernia and the Terra Nova development. These oil reservoirs are located in a unique and harsh environment off the coast of Newfoundland & Labrador. ExxonMobil also has interest in the Orphan Basin which is a
high-potential, unexplored basin with arctic conditions offshore eastern Canada.

Husky Energy is one of Canada’s largest energy and energy-related companies. They have their headquarters based in Calgary, Alberta, as well as an office in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador in which it manages Canada’s East Coast White Rose project. This reservoir has a production capacity of 136,000 barrels per day during the second quarter of 2007. Along with production Husky holds a substantial position in offshore development and exploration opportunities offshore Canada’s East Coast. Two substantial discoveries near the White Rose field were found during 2006 and this discovery will bring an additional 138 million barrels of possible reserves to White Rose.

Petrobras is an energy company that performs in oil and oil byproduct exploration, production, refining, marketing, and transportation, in Brazil and abroad. They own more than 100 production platforms, 16 refineries, 30,000 kilometers of ducts and more than 6,000 gas stations. SIGTTO is the international body established for the exchange of technical information and experience, between members of the industry, to enhance the safety and operational reliability of gas tankers and terminals. To this end the Society publishes studies and produces information papers and works of reference for the guidance of industry members. It maintains working relationships with other industry bodies, governmental and intergovernmental agencies, including IMO, to better promote the safety and integrity of gas transportation and storage schemes.

The Department of Natural Resources promotes and facilitates the sustainable development of the provinces mineral and energy resources through its policy development, management, promotion and assessment activities for the overall benefit of the citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador. They share jurisdiction over offshore petroleum resources with the federal government and participates in its management through the Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board.

Emera Inc. is an energy and services company with 570,000 customers, and $4.0 billion in assets. They operate regulated utilities in northeast North America. Emera also own a 12.9% equity interest in the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline, which delivers Nova Scotia’s offshore natural gas to markets in Maritime Canada and New England.

SeaNG Corporation provides marine storage
and transportation of compressed natural gas (CNG) using specially designed ships that carry Coselle CNG containers.
